Hello World

A little programming humor for you fellow nerds. This first post is going out as a pretty basic WordPress page, but hopefully I can devote more time and effort into making this a really outstanding site in the near future. So, the big questions, I suppose, are who am I and why/what is MoveMint Yoga.

Hi, I’m Amanda. You may know me as @yogibrarian on Instagram. Yogibrarian is where this all started out – as the Yogi Librarian account that I made with the intention of being a place to 50% engage with the #bookstagram community and 50% try to win some free leggings in a #yogachallenge. Honesty right there.

Instagram Books– At the time I was working in a library in youth services and reading a lot of Young Adult literature. Not all of my colleagues read YA, so I took pictures and put them our for the world. Sadly I found that my book posts weren’t getting as much (read hardly any) conversation. I was a little bummed that I hadn’t found a place to connect over the books that I truly loved. The book posts have dwindled over the years. Though my love of reading has not and I still usually hit my yearly goal of 50 books per year.

My collection has grown and so has my hair- back to my natural color. I do miss the purple. Maybe I’ll go back to it.

Instagram Yoga– Back in 2017 I had taken a few months of yoga classes, but hadn’t found a supportive community. None of my irl friends practiced. But there was this amazing online community of supportive people having fun, posting tips, and like I said, winning those sweet yoga pants. I went waaaaaaaaaay, I mean WAY out of my comfort zone and participated in a yoga challenge. I did not win the pants. 😂 I showed my friend and former coworker my new Instagram handle and when I say her jaw hit the floor when she saw that I had posted a picture of myself on social media, I mean she went on for a good ten minutes staring in disbelief.

Started at the bottom, now we’re here.

Over the years my practice has grown, as has my love for movement and yoga has grown and I have recently undertaken studying for my yoga teacher certification.

So now here I am. Another new endeavor. MoveMint Yoga. As is illustrated above, when you start out making something new, it is hard to say what exactly it will become. I do know that I intend to share the things that I love here. Yoga, fitness, food, books, gardening, nature, and hopefully soon travel. I want this to be a place that you can relax and be entertained that provides something good in the world – pretty pictures, inspiration, motivation, positivity, whatever you can take from it, I’m happy with. There are a lot of places that you can spend your time. I hope that this is one that you will choose to come back to.
